RICHMOND — This extreme winter weather can really take a toll on your skin. Give your hands and feet some special winter care with these easy to made scrubs and body butter.

Lavender Coconut Salt Scrub

2 cups coconut oil

2 cups Epsom salt

30 drops lavender essential oil

Add coconut oil, Epsom salt, and essential oil to a small bowl and mix well with a spoon until well combined. Store in an air-tight container.

Be sure to wash out the tub after using this or any other body scrub.

Vanilla Sugar Scrub

1/2 cup white sugar

2 cups brown sugar

1/2 cup extra-virgin olive oil

1 Tablespoon honey

1 Tablespoon vanilla extract

Add sugars and mix together, add olive oil, honey, and vanilla and stir well. Store in an air-tight container.

I whipped up this semi-homemade body butter last week that is my new favorite lotion to use on my hands. The scent really gives me a pick me up in the morning, and I also like that eucalyptus essential oil has antibacterial properties. You could easily switch out the eucalyptus for lavender essential oil.

Eucalyptus Body Butter

16 oz. container unscented lotion

8 oz. container vitamin E cream

1 cup coconut oil

60 drops eucalyptus essential oil

Mix lotion, vitamin E cream, and coconut oil together with a mixer on high for at least five minutes, until coconut oil fluffs up. Add the essential oil and mix well. Store in air-tight containers.
