Yale School of Medicine researchers report that a low concentration of vitamin E in the blood is linked with physical decline in older people. The study on 698 randomly chosen Italian people age 65 or older looked at blood levels of nutrients including folate, iron and vitamins B6, B12, D and E. Over three years, declines in three tasks (walking speed, rising repeatedly from a chair, and standing balance) were linked only with low levels of vitamin E.
