CATALOGUE : Herbs : Eye Formula (90Capsules)Herbal Combinations | Brand: Natural Factors Eye Formula (90Capsules)
Eye Formula - NOW with Lutein
The Eye Formula is a combination of herbs and nutrients that have been shown to help the eyes and reduce free radical damage to the eyes. The Eye Formula includes the carotenoid, lutein, as well as bilberry, multi-anthocyanidins, carrot juice powder, and eyebright. All the herbs and nutrients in this formula are exceedingly safe, and many are powerful antioxidants that fight free radical damage, one of the main reasons our eyesight deteriorates as we age.
Bilberrys active ingredients are a group of flavonoids called anthocyanosides. Anthocyanosides are powerful antioxidants that prevent free radical damage. The most promising research shows that bilberry extract improves night-time visual acuity, with quicker adjustment to darkness and faster restoration of vision after exposure to glare. Further studies show that bilberry extract also helps those with hemeralopia (day blindness), or the inability to see distinctly in bright light.
Multi-Anthocyanidins: The flavonoids found in fruits and vegetables are recognized as potent antioxidants. We include multi-anthocyanidins, a complex extract of plant flavonoids that are powerful free radical scavengers. Multi-anthocyanidins are standardized extracts derived from blueberry, cranberry, elderberry, grape, raspberry, strawberry and of course, bilberry.
Eyebright: one of a few select plants that specifically help the eyes. An extract of the whole herb is used and a compress of the decoction will give surprisingly rapid relief of redness, swelling and visual disturbances in acute and sub-acute eye inflammations. However, eyebright is not just for external use. Although the method of action is unknown, eyebright extract taken internally also benefits the eye. Daniel Mowrey suggests that internal use of eyebright probably affects the liver among other organs in such a way as to cleanse the blood supply to the eyes.
Carrot Juice Powder: Beta-carotene rich carrots provide the vitamin A so essential to the eyes.
Rutin: a bioflavonoid which helps the absorption and retention of vitamin C, a key free radical scavenger. Bioflavonoids benefit the vascular-rich eye area and heighten resistance to infection.
Quercetin: a naturally-occurring flavonoid, also is an antioxidant, helping to prevent free radical damage.
Lutein: naturally present in the macula and the lens of the eye where it prevents photo-oxidation. Macular degeneration and cataract formation are major eye problems in an aging population. There is good evidence that suggests that additional lutein is protective against these eye disorders.
